Mountain Biking

The Syllamo Bike Trail is a world class mountain bike trail consisting of over 50 miles of single track trails through the Ozark National Forest just north of Mountain View. Phase 1 is 22 miles and consists of of three interconnecting loops, which are accessible from the Syllamo Trailhead on Arkansas Highway 5, as well as several locations along Green Mountain Road. You can also get more information from the U.S. Forest Service Site.
The International Mountain Biking Association (IMBA) added the Syllamo Trail System to it’s 2005 list of Epic Rides. IMBA Epics are at the top of many mountain bikers “must-ride” lists as they “create classic memories and inspire us to save the trails”. For more details see www.imba.com/epics.
Three of the Loops in Phase I Include:

White River Bluff Loop: The shortest loop, 4.5 miles round trip. Portions of the trail are quite technical and beginner level riders might have to walk their bikes across certain sections, but the views are worth the effort. Spectacular views of the White River and its valley, the North Sylamore Creek Valley and surrounding Ozark Mountains abound.
Bald Scrappy Loop: 7.3 miles of scenic Ozark Forest. Much of this trail is suitable for beginners, with a few short stretches that are more suited to intermediate level riders.
Scrappy Mountain Loop: 12 miles of steep Ozark Mountain terrain. This loop offers switchbacks up and down steep mountainous slopes and three creek crossings. Much of this loop is beginner friendly but some sections, such as the steep switchbacks, might require the less experienced riders to walk their bikes.
NOTE: The two parking areas on Green Mountain Road identified on the map are still under construction. However, the following places allow access to the various loops from Green Mountain Road.
Please be careful not to block any road when parking.
