Economic Development
Mountain View and Stone county continue to develop their industrial capacity. Despite a sluggish economy across the nation, we are holding on to existing businesses and adding new ones. The Friendship Community Care Program has just purchased 2 acres at the Stone County Industrial Park and are planning to build an 8,000 square foot building to be used with their work with the disabled. They currently have 42 employees that work with existing businesses in Stone County to finish or make their products.
The Mountain View Airport has just completed expansion of its runway and the county has finalized the contracts with a new propeller contractor, Mid-America Propeller, Inc. This company should employ 10 to 15 new people and construction on the facility should begin in the spring of 2004.
Ozarka College is finalizing the paperwork for the building of their new campus in Mountain View. According to County Judge Stacey Avey the bond issue has been approved by voters and they plan to have the campus started in the Spring of 2004.
Mountain View has always been known for its warm, friendly atmosphere and as a great vacation getaway. The area is becoming known for its ability to treasure the ways of the past while securing an economic future for its citizens. In addition to several manufacturers located in and around the Stone County Industrial Park, additional industry includes tourism, poultry production, cattle and farming.
