Stone County Abuse Prevention
Stone County Abuse Prevention, Inc. (SCAP), a non-profit organization, was formed in May 1999. A group of concerned citizens saw the need for continued services to the victims of domestic violence and their dependents within Stone County and set about to meet the needs of those whose lives are touched by abuse. Since then, SCAP has filled those needs for many families in this community providing a safe place to stay. The activities of SCAP are designed to assist the victims of domestic violence; a 24/7 helpline, a emergency shelter, and outreach efforts that include court advocacy, helping prepare orders of protection, support group every Tuesday evening. Speakers are available for groups, and we have educational events for the community throughout the year. The mission of SCAP is to promote awareness & prevention of domestic abuse and to facilitate the general wellbeing of persons and children affected by domestic abuse, physically, mentally, sexually and emotionally.
